About Our Groups
Our groups provide a structured, supportive environment and maintain a small class size where social skills are taught in an engaging and meaningful way. Pivot's Social Skills groups are intended for children who have been identified by professionals as needing additional support in developing pragmatic and play skills. Each class focuses on a social skill and a pretend play schema. Parents will be provided with a handout describing the group’s activities and ideas for carry over.
Facilitators
Groups will be led by two NYS Licensed Behavior Analysts who also have Special Education and Social Work credentials and decades of experience. While the foundation of our work is behavior-analytic in nature our passion for play helps make learning fun! We believe that effective therapy is evidence-based, naturalistic and individualized. You can learn more about Anne and Stacy on the About Us page.
Group Formation
The formation of a social skills group is a thoughtful one and requires matching peers with complimentary strengths and ages. Therefore group participation depends on the scheduling of compatible peer groups. Filling out the interest form is a great place to get started! Once we have your basic information we will reach out to learn more about your child and what group dynamics might work best for them.
